HPZS is leading the design for a full IFLI Living Building Challenge certified building, incorporating PHUIS certification, a first of its kind in the region. These certifications set forth incredibly challenging energy and water goals to achieve and represent the highest benchmarks for sustainable, resilient design today.

The peaceful, coastal property is in South Haven, Michigan, just south of Saugatuck in Allegan County. Our client’s vision is for the development is to be self-sufficient, net positive energy, net zero water, even producing much of its own food on the land it occupies. Climate change is at the forefront of all decisions made regarding this project, and we look forward to sharing our ideas and progress with you as we design a self-sustaining project that not only represents sustainable building practices, but also conservation and restorative, regenerative design.
